ParsedMail vs Zapier Email Parser
ParsedMail is a Zapier Email Parser alternative for emails that template highlighting cannot handle. It reads PDF attachments, returns a confidence score per field, has its own REST API and still delivers into Zapier through the built-in Webhooks by Zapier trigger. The Zapier Email Parser stays free and simple for fixed layouts.
How the two tools work
Zapier Email Parser is free inside Zapier. You send a sample email to a mailbox, highlight the values you want, and Zapier uses that template on later emails. It does not read PDFs, does not give confidence scores and has no API of its own, according to its documentation in October 2026.
ParsedMail reads meaning instead of position. You describe the fields once, a language model reads each email and its attachments into typed JSON, and the result reaches Zapier as a webhook. The setup is on the ParsedMail Zapier integration page.

Cost at similar volumes
The Zapier Email Parser costs nothing extra, while each Zap run still uses your Zapier tasks. ParsedMail adds its own plan: Starter is $49 a month or $24 a month billed yearly for 1,000 emails and 300 attachment pages, Growth is $149 a month or $74 billed yearly for 5,000 emails, and Scale is $499 a month or $249 billed yearly for 25,000 emails. If your emails fit a fixed template and have no PDFs, the free parser is hard to beat on price. The pricing page lists every limit.
When the Zapier Email Parser is the better choice
- One or two senders with a layout that does not change.
- All values sit in the email body, with no PDFs.
- You only ever use the data inside Zapier and do not need an API.
- Budget matters more than handling new layouts automatically.
When ParsedMail fits better
- Templates break whenever a sender changes a word or a table.
- Invoices, orders or applications arrive as PDF attachments. See invoice email parsing.
- You want to route uncertain results to a person, using confidence or the review queue.
- Other systems also need the data, through the API, a webhook or another automation tool.
How to switch from the Zapier Email Parser
- Create an inbox in ParsedMail and describe the same fields you highlighted in the template.
- Create a new trigger in your Zap with Webhooks by Zapier and Catch Hook, and add the hook URL as a ParsedMail endpoint.
- Remap the action fields to the new labels, for example Data Data Order Number.
- Add a filter on Data Needs Review is false, so only confident results continue.
- Change the forward in Gmail or Outlook from the Zapier mailbox to your ParsedMail address.
